I read it!

When I was working at the hospital we often had to read informations and then sign on a list that we had done so. As I have a long name I put an entwined S and C (my initials) on the list.
A few months ago I had to cut strips from 23 different batik fabrics to make a quilt for my daughter. I left the small strips I had cut in order to square the fabric on the cutting table and when I took them to throw them away they looked so good I decided to keep for a future quilt. While trying to find the best way to put my sign on fabric I saw this small colourful fabrics strips.
The back is machine pieced and quilted, a left over from a first attempt for our first challenge, carnival. I placed the batik strips on top of the quilted background and used my felting machine to attach them.

  1. This really drew me in, the colours are so vibrant and the piecing and stitch work on the background are lovely. Your daughters quilt must be stunning based on the few snippets we can see here

  4. My felting machine spends most of its time in the cupboard, but your gorgeous melange of batiks gives me inspiration. The complimentary colours make a bold statement and then our eyes can go closer and see all the wonderful details.

    2. I bought my felting machine two years ago as I needed it for a quilt for the exhibition of our local quilt group. This quilt will be shown in Berlin next week end. I haven't used the machine since then but I am thinking of doing more quilt using thze small left over pieces of fabrics.

  5. Beautiful way to show a mark you have created for your work in the hospital. That is definitely your mark. makes me also think about getting the embellisher out.

  7. Initials -- yes, I can imagine you have to use them a lot as a doctor! Love the idea and that you use your felting machine to create new fabric. Do you sign your artwork with your initials?
