Gabriele Bach: Krokus - Liebe zum Fruehlingsgarten |
Love is a very difficult
theme and I spent a lot of time thinking about it. But when I saw my little
garden in the sunshine, it was clear for me, what I wanted to show in my quilt.
I love my garden, especially in the early spring when it is full of crocuses
and snowdrops. The crocus is a wild sort and they become every year more.
For my quilt I had the idea
to show the flower with a wide border. I admire often the hand embroidery in
other quilts and this time I wanted to use seed stitch to present the wealth of
crocus blossoms in my garden. I have self- dyed embroidery yarn, which waits to
be used.
Every year again I admire the crocuses in my garden and I am very happy that I made at least a quilt with
the crocuses.

I used mostly self-dyed cotton
and embroidery yarn, pieced and quilted with the machine and made the
embroidery by hand.
A wonderful first piece, Gabi. The machine and hand stitching is so lovely. The hand dyed fabric adds a gentle quality to these delicate and beautiful Crocus. I love my garden too, eventhough it is full of weeds at the moment!
ReplyDeleteLovely piece. such delicate colours, just as in the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to 'meet' you through your art, Gabi. The colours are perfect for many kinds of crocus, and the image of the one in your garden immediately captures the heart of the piece.
ReplyDeleteThe crocus is fascinating! I like the tenderness of your piece, Gabriele!
ReplyDeleteGabi, the small quilt within a quilt is beautifully framed by the hand stitching and lovely background colours. All the detailed machine stitch captures the lovely texture of the crocus flower. A beautiful first quilt for the group
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely introductory piece, Gabriele. The gentle colors and your hand embroidery work beautifully together. I'm looking forward to the time when my garden looks like this.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Gabi. I can easily see that you are a wonderful addition to our group. I love your colour palette and the texture that you have achived with your stitching.
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely, Gabi. The crocus is gorgeous and I love the way you've offset it into the larger framework of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteGabi, welcome to the group. Like the others I think this piece is gorgeous, the subtile colors and your skillful use of hand - and machine stitching. The crocus is just lovely and putting it on a small piece by its one on top of the background makes it really stand out.
ReplyDeleteHi Gabriel, This is a really wonderful piece with great dimension and structure, as well as high technical ability. The crocus is just beautiful, I just wish I could grow them like that! So glad you have joined our group.
